异丙基-β-D-硫代半乳糖苷(IPTG，CAS: 367-93-1)是诱导大肠杆菌乳糖操纵子酶合成的强力诱导物. 在培养基中加入该物10-4克分子时，即可通过存在于大肠杆菌细胞膜中的微量半乳糖苷渗透酶而被参入至细菌体内. 此外, 在高浓度下使用时, 因它仍能透过缺少半乳糖苷渗透酶的细胞, 因而常被用于对缺少渗透酶的菌株的诱导实验. IPTG的这种性质决定了他在生物领域有着极为广泛的应用.
